With a track record of developing new products for blue chip companies with household brand names such as BAND-AID^TM Brand Adhesive Bandages and First-Aid Dressings, Scholl^TM Corn Plasters and Combe’s Odor-Eater^TM Insoles, I am well able to provide that essential input for your New Product Development Programme, for just as long as you need it.

Technical Support.

I am able to provide technical support in the areas of primary manufacturing process development, final product manufacturing process development, project management, cost reduction and generation of data to support product packaging and advertising claims. I can advise on response to environmental pressure groups, employee training and recruitment.

I am able to perform Quality Control audits on suppliers and carry out technical trouble shooting.

One of the most recent trouble shooting projects required solving the cause of catastrophic adhesion failure of design decals applied to cycle frames. Another involved identifying the cause of sudden pigment migration from a personal care product into consumers apparel.

A further trouble shooting exercise required an informed and detailed response to an enquiry from a client’s customer about an apparent environmental issue raised by a member of Friends of the Earth.

Advice can be given on regulatory issues, environmental concerns, product claims and claims regarding animal testing, in fact any area requiring technical knowledge and expertise.

Adhesives.

I have more than 25 years experience in PSAs (pressure sensitive adhesives) for skin contact applications in first-aid dressings, surgical dressings, wound care, foot care products (corn removal plasters and pressure relief padding for feet and toes), spool tapes, bandages, medicated / drug delivery devices, and veterinary products (leg bandages for horses).

As a result , I have extensive contacts with suppliers and developers of:

Solvent adhesives

Water-based (emulsion) acrylic adhesives

Hot melt adhesives

for skin contact and packaging applications.

My more recent projects include the installation of hot melt coating equipment and development of a hot melt adhesive coating process to replace a solvent coating line for environmental and product cost reasons, in addition to the development of adhesive pain relief patches.

Personal Care Products.

I have 15 years experience in the development of toiletries and cosmetics (creams, lotions, bathing products, pump sprays and aerosols), deodorants, OTC Medicines (Athlete's Foot Remedies, Antiseptic Foot Creams) and similar products.
